An unusual WW1 French Colonial Infantry M15 ‘Adrian’ helmet. Sourced from the Museum of Notre Dame de Lorette.
The paint is typical of a French colonial issued helmet, having been issued in the standard horizon blue, before being hand painted over in brown by the colonial troops in the field. It’s unclear which section of the French colonial forces this helmet belonged to but it was likely an infantry regiment of the Tiralleurs or Spahis.
The original, 2nd pattern leather liner is present, as is the chinstrap although this is damaged (it is however still in one piece).
The helmet is partly corroded but is generally in good condition, with both the liner and chinstrap all complete and supple, albeit a little delicate.
This helmet was sourced from the reserves of the fantastic Museum of Notre Dame de Lorette.
