Beautiful Original Edwardian Officers Major's Frock Dress Jacket Coat, Boer War Veteran
With bullion wire rank crowns for a major on black cord epaulettes.
Fabric medal bar containing:
- India General Service Medal 1895
- Queens South Africa medal
- Kings South Africa Medal
Made from good quality dark blue / black superfine cloth, edged with 1” black mohair, 4 rows of waved frogged braid to front with silk toggles and with black satin lining.
Ornate braid lace braiding to the collar and cuffs. A small part of the brocade ending on the collar is unstitched.
Mohair braiding and hanging tassles on the back - one of the toggles on the back is missing.
No name or makers label.
There are a number of repaired areas on the coat in different areas - the most visible of which is on the right shoulder. The other largest repairs are in the areas around the right underarm, front and back - some of these are less visible.
There are a small number of small moth holes as well as the repaired areas.
Chest Size is 37 inches. Armpit to armpit measurement is 19 inches. Armpit to cuff is 20 inches
Lovely Edwardian jacket despite the repaired areas.
