French Colonial M1886 ‘Pain de Sucre’ Pith Helmet for the Troupes de Marine

With cork construction covered in whitewashed cotton cloth - small dented patch on the rear where the cork shell is damaged

With original metal Troupes de Marine anchor badge  on the front

Liner fully present and with customary green interior lining. Two hard to read stamps present.

size approx 56-57

Chinstrap not present.

In generally nice condition - some freying to the front rim and some old damaged / repaired patches on the shell at the front and back

These helmets were used from the 1880s all the way into the early 1920s, this example is likely turn of the century c.1890-1910, possibly even WW1
