Rare 1880 transitional Pattern Victorian Shropshire Light Infantry Colonel's Tunic Jacket .
The ranking insignia used pre 1881 is quite different to the more common modern system - but this jacket spans both old and new ranking systems - the rank pips on the shoulders are from the new system and denote a Colonel.
With beautiful brocaded collar and brocaded cuffs with black facings.
Bullion wire Shropshire LI collar badges
Victorian crown Shropshire LI buttons present - all present. The buttons alone on this jacket are worth upwards of £150.
Chest Size approx 36 inches. Slim fitting. Armpit to armpit measurement is 18.5 inches. Armpit to cuff is 120 inches
Jacket Condition - generally good but with some issues :
- only one Epaulette
- collar partly detached at the back
- some slight black staining on the back and staining under the arms
- slightly loose stitching under one arm.
- lining perished around the collar.
- virtually no mothing - some slight trails.
Still a lovely jacket - the collar could be repaired and could be made complete with a 2nd Epaulette.
