Rare Original Edwardian Pre-WW1 (1903-1908) Scottish Horse Imperial Yeomanry private purchase Uniform Jacket.
Very high quality tailoring and heavy quality fabric.
With regimental buttons for the Scottish Horse imperial Yeomanry - all present. These feature the Scottish crown (not a Victorian crown).
There is a fabric medal bar with a partial DSO ribbon to the left and the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) to the right.
Jacket has a washed out makers / name label, so the owning soldier is unknown - some individual characters can be made out.
With unusual yellow piping to the collar and cuffs.
The jacket has some condition issues :
- a large repair in the same type of cloth to the bottom of the left lower pocket (this could likely be improved by a repairing tailor)
- some patches of mothing primarily to the front around and below the waist/belt area and some isolated small holes eg on the upper arms and to the inner of the left cuff.
- a darned repair on one elbow
- small darned repairs near / under the armpits.
Jacket is approx 37-38 inch chest. It measures 20 inches from armpit to armpit when laid flat and 19.5 inches from armpit to cuff.
Despite the condition issues this is an unusual Pre-WW1 jacket tied to a narrow time period, as the Scottish Horse Imperial Yeomanry were formed in 1903 and disbanded / reorganised in 1908.
