A fantastic and rare WW1 British Royal Flying Corps collection - including leather flying helmet, wrist compass, map board, goggles and ephemera.
Includes :
A First World War Wood Navigation Map/Chart Board by Houghton's Ltd. dated 1913, London, as used by the Royal Flying Corps. With a shaped pediment set with a compass, the reverse with a leather wrist strap and a protractor covered in perspex, stamped with maker's name and date 1913/IV, with broad arrow and numbered 4648;
A Brass Wrist Compass, with leather wrist strap;
an RFC Leather Flying Helmet, lined with rabbit fur in excellent condition.
A pair of RFC flying goggles - the rubber on the rims has solidified and is brittle with a number of pieces no longer connected - could be sympathetically restored.
