A very rare WW2 Italian Sub- Lieutenant’s visor cap to the ‘San Marco’ Regiment, the Italian Navy Marines.
The regiment was an elite Venetian based unit and were stationed at Tobruk during its defence and also involved in seaborne assaults in Greece and Yugoslavia. After 1943, all but one battalion of the regiment fought with the allies against Mussolini’s RSI German Puppet State as well as Germany itself.
