A rare WW1 Indian Army death plaque to Serang Siyawar Shah Abdullah Royal Engineers - his name is misspelt on the plaque, as many Indian troops names sadly were.

Comes in its original card packet

Supplied with some research material compiled by the previous owner.

The whereabouts of his Medals is unknown.

 

Serang Siyawar Shah Abdullah- misspelt Aorlulla (1031), Inland Water Transport, Royal Engineers

Siyawar came from Assam (Bangladesh) serving as a Serang of the Port Administration and River Conservancy Department of the Inland Water Transport Unit of the Royal Engineers. He served mostly in Iraq/Arabia. He was killed in action on 9th July 1917. He is remembered on the Basra Memorial in Iraq.
