A lovely and rare WW2 British/Indian Army slouch hat with gold wire bullion arrow insignia for the 7th Indian Infantry Division.

Maker marked and dated "Failsworth Hats Ltd 1944". Complete with leather sweatband and chinstrap, although the chinstrap is detached on one side. The foil reflective lining has also been removed as was common. 

During WW2 the Indian divisions were made up of both British and Indian regiments as well as some Gurkha and Punjab units. The 7th Indian Division fought in the Japanese conquest of Burma, the Arakan Offensive, the Battle of the Admin Box, the Battle of Kohima the Battle of Central Burma and the Irrawaddy River, as well as the disarming of the Japanese Army in Thailand and the liberation of prisoners of war.
