Fantastic and rare Original Victorian South Staffordshire Officers Home Service Helmet & Major's Scarlet Uniform Jacket, Sash and Trousers.

The officers Home Service helmet is in nice condition with a high quality brass South Staffordshire plate

The helmet spike base sits a little proud of the helmet shell.

Inside the leather sweatband shows service wear and there is a nice plum coloured silk liner. There is manufacturers label stating " New Regulation Solid Cork Helmet".

Helmet size is approx 54-55 cm

The jacket dates from approximately the turn of the 19th / 20th century as it has both late Victorian and early Edwardian features.

On the shoulders the jacket has Victorian bullion wire and velvet rank crowns for a Major on gilt rope shoulder boards (one of which is only secured at one end).

Edwardian gilt South Staffordshire buttons throughout - all present.

Jacket has cream collar and cuffs facings with ornate gold brocade. and with bullion wire South Staffordshire badges to the collar.

Jacket condition is externally very good with one small moth nip, some discolouration of the cream collar and of the cuffs area, and sweat patches under the arms

The lining inside is in poor condition.

The crimson sash is in very nice condition.

Chest Size is small approx 36 inches. Armpit to armpit measurement is 18 inches. Armpit to cuff is 17.5 inches.

The fish tail trousers are in excellent condition and with an ornate gold brocade and red stripe. All buttons present, including for braces and fly.

Trousers waist is slim, approx 26 inches - laid flat the waist measures 13 inches across. Inside leg is 32 inches
