Original WW2 Tropical KD Uniform Jacket & Trousers together with a collection of Badges, Dog Tags and his papers.
All items attributed to 3710793 Private/LCpl George Butterworth The King's Own Royal Lancaster (KORL) Regiment and later L/Sgt in the Manchester Regiment.
Born 1919, he attested for Service in 1934. Served 1st Battalion in India pre war and early WW2 with 1st Bn KORL in North Africa and the Manchester Regiment in North West Europe He was entitled to the 39-45, Africa and France and Germany Stars alongside the Defence and War Medals.
The jacket has metal KORL shoulder titles and KORL Metal collar badges and buttons - all buttons present
The jacket has a lance corporal stripes, a Service stripes and a Marksman trade badge.
Jacket had no name or makers label, but is stamped to the 1st Btn KORL.
Jacket is approx 35-36 inch chest. It measures 18.5 inches from armpit to armpit when laid flat and 18 inches from armpit to cuff.
Jacket condition is very good though it has a shine in places from over ironing.
Trousers are slim waisted and measure 13.5 inches across when laid flat - approx 26 inch waist. Inside leg 29 inches.
Trousers condition is fair to good - no holes but a good number of strains and 2 fly buttons are missing - the buttons are plain so could easily be replaced
The collection also has his dog tags, 3 metal badges for KORL, Marksman and Signaller.
Also 1 photo of George + his attestation papers, transfer to Army reserves, 2 trade qualifications and a reference letter. There is also a photocopy of his medal application.
Overall this is a lovely collection of uniform and supporting materials.
