Beautiful Original Victorian Victorian 10th Canadian Royal Grenadier Militia Undress Shell Jacket, 1863 Pattern 'Torrin' Field Cap & Silk Waistcoat
The jacket shoulders have golded rope shoulder boards and with rank pips for a Lieutenant and gilt Victorian Canadian Militia buttons.
It also features a medal bar for the North West Canada Medal (1885) issued for service during the Riel Rebellion.
Jacket has black collar and cuffs facings with gold coloured edgings. Golded fabric motifs to the cuffs and bullion wire Grenadier badges to the collar.
Both Jacket and waistcoat fasten with hook and eye fixings sitting behind metal shell beads.
Fabric medal bar on the front.
Jacket has a beautiful crimson silk lining, and a makers label for Thomas Crean, Toronto.
Jacket condition is near excellent with only one moth nip near the collar and a small black mark on one sleeve.
The 1863 Pattern Torrin field cap is in fantastic condition - made from a high quality felt wool and with gold edging. It has a gold bullion wire Grenadiers badge to match the jacket.
It has a Victorian makers label for Strickland & Sons of London and is beautifully lined. It may never have been worn.
Cap size is approx 57cm.
Waistcoat is of black silk and cotton - with golded thread motifs on each side. It is in fantastic condition except the top fastening hook is broken/missing.
Jacket Chest Size is small approx 36 inches. Armpit to armpit measurement is 17.5 inches. Armpit to cuff is 18.5 inches
