Original Victorian Boer War Era Colonel's Scarlet Mess dress Jacket dated 1901.
Thought to be Highland Light Infantry based upon the collection it came from.
Jacket has black collar and cuffs facings.
With Victorian Colonel's brass buttons securing the simple rope shoulder boards.
Jacket is designed with only 1 fastening at the neck - presumably would have been worn over a waistcoat.
Nicely lined.
It has a name label inside the collar but this is too faded to be read. Another label has a date of 3/2/1 for 3rd February 1901.
Chest Size is very small approx 32 inches. Armpit to armpit measurement is 16 inches. Armpit to cuff is 20.5 inches
Jacket Condition is near excellent with only one pinprick holes and one light moth trail.
A simple but elegant design of jacket.
