A fascinating collection covering 3 generations of the Evans family from 1878 to 1950, centred around the Naval Salvage activities of John Perkins Evans in Zeebrugge Harbour  just after WW1 + items for his father and son.

For John Perkins Evans

- large hand drawn map of Zeebrugge Harbour in 1920 and Salvage operations including the raising of HMS Vindictive - 123 x 53 cm

- papers relating to John Perkins Evans Naval Salvage operations in Zeebrugge 1920-21

- JP Evans naval shipwright apprentice papers 1898 - 1904 (Indenture and completion certificates)

- modern copy of a 1920 article on the Salvage of HMS Vindictive

- 1920 large mounted group photo of King Albert of Belgium and RN officers including Commodore Sir Frederick W Young aboard HMS Vindictive (J P Evans)

- 1920 large mounted group photo of RN Salvage Section aboard HMS Vindictive (J P Evans)

For Mrs A Evans (Wife)

- Mrs A Evans 1944 Savings Certificate

For Henry Evans (Father)

- A folder of Naval career certificates to JP Evans' father, Henry Evans who was a Navy carpenter - joined Navy in 1868 and retired a Lieutenent in 1898. Certificates dated from 1878 to 1895 - approx 35 certificates

For Stanley Munro Evans (Son)

- RAF Service and Pay Book to Cpl SM (Stanley Munro) Evans with papers dating 1948-50 (assumed to be JP Evans' son)

For A G Fowler (Through Marriage)

- WW2 notebook / diary to AG Fowler for the period 1940-43, an RAF engineer, based mainly in South Africa and Rhodesia. The notebook contains a wide range of items including his aircraft maintenance role and notably marks the day of the fall of Singapore with the phrase "Jap Affair".

Also includes small ephemera items from South Africa and Rhodesia - Fowler was married into the Evans family.

Unknown WW1 Greetings Cards

- 3 x WW1 silk greetings cards - 2 of which are Army Service Corps + one dated 1917. One of the ASC cards has a very touching message about a German artillery Bombardment which would not have passed the censor.  This card is worth a great deal on its own. The link between the greetings cards and the Evans family is unknown sadly.

A collection worthy of further research.
