Makers label for Pulford & Sons London, and named and dated June 1918 on the label.
Chest is approx 37 inches. Measures 18.5 inches armpit to armpit and 18 inches from armpit to cuff.
William Herbert Purvis volunteered following the death of his son John, and by using influence was commissioned into the 9th Btn RB as 2nd Lt.
Although wounded in 1916, he continued with the Btn becoming Captain of his late son John's B company in 1917.
John Rolf Purvis, son of W.H. Purvis, was born 2nd Jan 1894, commissioned 2nd Lt 9th Btn Rifle Brigade 28th Sept 1914, deployed to Flanders with 9th in may 1915, promoted captain 9th August 1915 and was killed at Bellewarde Ridge whist leading B company in an attack on 25th Sept 1915.
