SOLD! WW1 Medal Trio to Petty Officer (1st Class) James Ellis, Who Died as a Result of His Service- Royal Navy
A lovely WW1 British Medal Trio issued to Petty Officer (1st Class) James Ellis of the Royal Navy. He died as a result of health complications related to his WW1 service and was issued a death plaque (which I don't have unfortunately).
His 1914-15 Star, Victory and War Medals are all named and with their original ribbons.
Petty Officer (1st Class) James Ellis
Born 1880 in Edinburgh to Alexander Ellis and Anne Munro (Ellis) but parents live in Blairgowie, Perthshire. Enlisted in 1897, service number 194312.
He served on Caledonia, Mintour, Agincourt, Scylla, Cruiser, Anson, Wildfire, Hermione, Fort, Pembroke I, Pembroke, Ganges and more.
He was discharged in 1915 and then issued with a death plaque on 10 Sep 1918, leaving behind his widow, Jessie Ellis.
He seems to have been killed due to some form of paralysis of the nervous system aggravated by active service.
