Unusual Original high quality WW2 1940 Dated French Army Infantry Dark Blue wool Double-breasted Greatcoat Unissued.
Almost immaculate private purchase greatcoat made to an earlier or transitional pattern by high end tailors Willmann of Paris.
The Willmann stamp dates the coat to March 1940 (3 and 40 in the upper part of the stamp)
With brass infantry buttons throughout - all present and including rear buttons to allow the front skirts to be pulled back.
The coat has a high upright collar
and deep pointed collar patches similar to those appearing on the M1877 pattern coat.
It has shoulder straps for boards rather than the M1938 shoulder rolls.
Nicely lined.
Condition is near excellent with only 2 small moth holes that are hard to spot, one on an arm and one towards the bottom of the front. There are also some slight moth trails towards the bottom.
Size is approximately a UK large size, approx 42 inch chest.
