He was Born 1916 and enlisted 22th May 1935 at Woolwich into the Royal East Kent Regt (The Buffs).

He also served in

- Kings Royal Hussars 1935-6

- Royal Armoured Corps 1936-44 including in India between 1936-39 and North Africa between 1942-4

- Army Catering Corps 1944-58 (Reserve from 1946 onwards)

He left service on 3rd April 1958 as an Acting Corporal as a cook in the Army Catering Corps.
